SAARC Leaders have attached high priority to the promotion of people-to-people contacts in the region to strengthen mutual understanding and goodwill among the peoples of South Asia. While SAARC is an inter-governmental Association, successive Summits have emphasized on the importance of promoting people-to-people contacts at all levels outside the State sector. In order to give effect to this concept, a number of initiatives have been taken under the aegis of SAARC.
